First 5 Days

I have been using the First 5 Days approach since 2014. In short, this is a 5-day study done at the beginning of the year to teach students important skills that are completely unrelated to the required curriculum. To date, I have created two 5-day studies: one on empathy, and one on integrity.

I believe in the First 5 Days approach because it creates a classroom environment founded on the idea that we should treat each other like people with different backgrounds and experiences. Whenever a difference of opinion arises, it is important to remember the discussions of the first five days in order to better understand the reason why each person’s opinion is valid.

For more information about the First 5 Days, please click on any of the links under the First 5 Days menu.
